This works for a single browser. Doesn't seem to work when I select 'sync url with other browsers'. Also, entering changing the URL doesn't work. Just sticks to the 'New tab redirect' page.

It works perfectly! I really thought my browser was able to do this itself until I realized it can't, so this saves an extra step by not having to press home every time I open a new tab in Chrome! That's a lot of saved clicks which equates to saved time and money!

Jeff

this is the answer to my prayer lol.

BEST EVER i did have to find secret settings in chrome so i could open HTML files anyways THIS IS AWESOME

Works reliably, thanks. For those looking to load local files, you can easily 'write' your own extension with a very basic manifest.json. That works great, only you may need to fiddle wil CORS headers to make things work from a file source.

Some extensions require your new tab page be set to their extension to use their extension, this allows you to override that

Great

Used to work well, but now it loses the configured redirect URL every couple of days. Too bad - useful extension when it works.

Feng William

simple and does the work that chrome should have provided as a default setting! great job

Does what it says, but takes the focus out of address bar, which is very bad

Dave Land

Should be browser-native, but this is nearly as good! Thank you.

Chrome Settings > On Startup: "New Tab Redirect is controlling this setting" Just doesn't work. Whatever address I use the new tab is always Google search.

Shankar Ganesh

New Tab redirect is a perfect tool that meets my minimalist expectations

Lincoln Mott

this has became useful soo much, my newtab without this is a fake random new tab, and this allows me to change it back to the chrome deafult tab, this is the only solution to it so 5 stars, also useful when you need to open alot of the same website.

Ori Lael

Great!!

This extension disabled by Chrome automatically once in a while and I have to enable it again. This happened at least once a month. Any idea how does this happan ? (Windows 10)

I've been using this for a long time and I really like it.... BUT... I wasted hours of messing around with why it wasn't working and realized that you need a full URL string in the setting like http://www.website.com instead of just www.website.com. Developer please fix this and either give warning or automatically fix the formatting. Thanks.

Assaf Bental

Installed it, it requested the manage apps permission, so uninstalled it and installed Custom New Tab URL instead.

Mr Gordy

The only one that works the way it should. Thank you
